Founded: 1995
Full-Time Employees: 3

The Culture

Demographics (Optional): 100% POC.
The best thing about working at the Service Board is: The youth!
When we’re not working, we’re: Outside enjoying the mountains, forests, lakes and ocean.
What we’re reading: “Personal Safety Nets” by Dr. John W. Gibson and Judy Pigott
What we’re listening to: Whatever our youth is playing, they keep us young. :)
If they made a movie about our workplace, it would be called: The tSB Secret Cult
Inclusion in the outdoors matters because: What happens outdoors affects everyone. Engaging underrepresented youth in traditionally inaccessible outdoor activities help to build youth leadership. Using natural environments as a supplement classroom ensures that, no matter their starting point, youth can take part in positive risk-taking and personal wellness habits through outdoor adventure. Through these experiences, youth develop the tenacity and determination needed to master any new skills and push the horizons of their own boundaries. As result, youth engage in their communities as leaders and advocates for environmental justice; become good environmental stewards and take action to create the kind of change they want to see.

Five years down the line, it’s our hope that: Every youth from every neighborhood has access to outdoor activities and mentorship.
